The team behind Cupitol, a popular all-day cafe and restaurant that opened last year in suburban Evanston, will debut a second location on Monday in Chicago. That’s when European-influenced coffee drinks and food come to Streeterville at 455 E. Illinois Street. Grab-and-go options serve morning commuters, while more robust items — like skirt steak — are available at night.
There’s a more industrial feel for their city location inside the River East Plaza, the same development that includes Target, Molly’s Cupcakes, and Pinstripes. Big windows draw sunlight so workers can lounge around during the day in comfort. When the sun sets, it’s a place to meet up before or after a movie across the street at the AMC River East 21, just a block west across the street.
Omelettes, pancakes, salads, and sandwiches all populate the menu. Cupitol promises more upscale selections, not just reheated food that’s common at many coffee shops. Plenty of gluten-free and vegetarian choices are also available.
Check out the photos below. Cupitol will be open from 7 a.m until 10 p.m. daily starting Monday in Streeterville.
