Chef Grant Achatz and Nick Kokonas of the Alinea Group are working on a new project, and on Monday they each made an Instagram post to remind folks they’re doing exactly that. But beyond the social media share, the acclaimed trust behind Alinea, Next, Aviary, and Roister is too busy laughing to share any further details. The smart money is these posts were taken inside the former Moto space off Fulton Market—though that’s unconfirmed.
Alinea Group bought the Moto space about a year ago, but they haven’t done much with it other than hosting a spring pop-up at 945 W. Fulton Market. There hasn’t been a new building permit for the space granted since May 2016. Kokonas didn’t return a message for more details, but listen to him laugh and activate the sound effects from the undisclosed construction space in the following video.
Chef Achatz was a bit more reserved in this black and white photo tease. His accompanying text read: “Construction. Full on.”
Though Achatz and Kokonas haven’t provided details—there’s nothing new on Kokonas’ Medium page, either—but there are rumors that the duo are considering a concept that incorporates music, specifically a jazz element. Again, this is an unconfirmed rumor. Check back for more in the coming weeks.
