Tonight, Wicker Park gets to see what has become of the Trenchermen space when the neighborhood welcomes Trench. Heisler Hospitality remains in charge of the restaurant on North Avenue, just west of Wicker Park’s six corners. They hope chef Jared Wentworth’s (Longman & Eagle) new menu and a few cosmetic changes restores some of the buzz inside the subterranean space.
The full menu is below. Pastrami-spiced pig head jumps out from Wentworth’s menu, as do Buffalo sweetbreads. There’s confit pork jowl and a butter burger with secret sauce on a unique egg roll.
Five beers, two wines and two ciders are on tap (including a Spanish variety, Bereziartua Sidra). Chicago’s cider IQ has soared in recent times thanks to bars like The Northman, but that doesn’t mean patrons can’t enjoy a shot of bourbon and a can of Stroh’s at Trench. The menu bluntly states that they can. Four classic house cocktails and a smattering of wines by the glass round out the drink list. Bottles are also available.
Will Wicker Parkers be willing to get down into the Trench? Find out tonight. Read the full dinner menu below, as brunch will be added in the coming weeks.
