Wisconsinites in Chicago, the Pink Squirrel opens tomorrow evening with a Wisconsin dive feel and old school cocktails. The cocktail menu comes from owner Dustin Drankiewicz, who’s background is in Wisconsin and has a penchant for the Pink Squirrel Cocktail from Bryant’s Cocktail Lounge in Milwaukee.
Siren Betty Design is heading up interiors, with a 1960’s supper club feel — think lots of pink, sparkly vinyl from Vogue Fabrics in Evanston, and bowling trophies. The goal is to have guests feel like they’ve stepped back in time, with boozy shakes and bowling alleys available on a reservation basis for $50 per hour.
Vintage radios, motorcycle photos, spoonflower wallpaper, and formica tables will solidify the time traveling feel of the bar, as will vintage glassware for the cocktails. Small details are important at this bar, with plants in wicker pots and fully custom lighting. Check out the photos below of the new bar before it opens its doors tomorrow.
The Pink Squirrel, 2414 N. Milwaukee Avenue, open 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. Sunday through Friday, 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Saturday.
