The Whistler in Logan Square has long been a choice spot for beats and drinks into the wee hours of the morning, but bar ownership will soon unveil a sequel with live music — Sleeping Village, 3734 W. Belmont Avenue. The Whistler team posted on Facebook that Sleeping Village is now hiring, looking for bartenders, hosts, lighting technicians, and other positions. The bar’s been in the works since last year in Avondale.
A spokeswoman for the Whistler said more details will be coming soon. That means there isn’t an official opening date. The bar’s website promises cider and beer — a departure from the Whistler’s cocktail-centric daily rotating menu. Recently, the Whistler has been doing beer collaborations and beer cocktails with local breweries, like Hopewell Brewing and Revolution Brewing, so hopefully the new bar will see some similar collaborations. Sleeping Village also has a Facebook page, which has photos of a long lineup of taps and snow-covered picnic tables on a patio. Stay tuned for updates on the sibling to one of Chicago’s most well-loved bars.
