Tour Spiteful Brewing’s Quirky North Side Taproom

Balmoral Brewers Row has arrived

Five years of planning finally pays off for the team behind Spiteful Brewing as they unveil their new taproom in Bowmanville. Chicago’s beer drinkers are lucky to have two new taprooms opening this weekend when Spiteful debuts at 11 a.m. Saturday at 2024 W. Balmoral Avenue. Spiteful will then then be Chicago’s newest taproom, wrestling the crown from Maplewood Brewery which opens its own space on Friday.

Walk through the space and customers will see a dartboard and a few large garage door windows which will stay shut during the winter months. Those look to be prime seats for the spring and summer. There’s 16 taps in all. The Spiteful team of Brad Shaffer and Jason Klein brewed their first commercial beers in 2012. Their core beers include God Damn Pigeon Porter. The brewery made waves last year with its Dumb Donald IPA, a reference to the occupant in the Oval Office.

Spiteful’s new home is near Half Acre Brewery’s facility which opened in September. Spiteful reportedly received Half Acre’s blessing from management before settling on the nearby space. The comraderie means beer lovers now have two reasons to visit this somewhat secluded North Side neighborhood. Take a look at the photos below as Spiteful’s new taproom opens on Saturday.
