One of Chicago’s premier restaurants, Avec, has unveiled a private event space with new menus providing Chicagoans a fancy new option. The second floor space has room for 40 while seated and 60 for a reception. It’s modeled after a Mediterranean wine cave. One Off Hospitality Group’s West Loop star will be able to serve multi-course family-style brunch, lunch, and dinners — as well as staff the space with action stations serving items such as whole-roasted lamb shoulders with fresh pitas.

Additionally, the room — which has a bar — can be used for overflow from downstairs. Avec tends to get crowded leaving customers with little space to stand while waiting. The second floor will help alleviate the problem. While chef Perry Hendrix has plenty of new menu items, classic Avec favorites, like those chorizo-stuffed medjool dates, are also available. One Off executive chef and partner Paul Kahan and Hendrix will also offer items like a chilled seafood tower that’s size depends on the size of party ($25 per person).

One Off brought back architect Thomas Schlesser whose firm designed the first floor. The new space uses red oak and exposed brick. The space can be rented out in a variety of configurations.

Take a look at the photos below. After 14 years, Avec has learned some new tricks.
