A new pizzeria/cafe opening later this month wants to make the area around Sox Park feel a little bit more like Little Italy or South Loop, two neighborhoods with dining options in a centralized location. The owners of Stix n Brix Wood Fired Pizza/Red Line Cafe plan on Oct. 15 at 218-220 W. 33rd St. The menu includes thin-crust pizza baked in a brick oven, sandwiches, salads, and appetizers. They also will serve beer and wine.
The restaurant will also feature a sidewalk patio, reported DNAinfo. The owners told the website that they hope to give White Sox fans a more refined, yet casual dining option. The pizzeria/cafe neighbor each other and will be operated as two separate entities, blending into a stretch including Turtles, (a popular dive bar) and Cork & Kerry.
Over at the Red Line Cafe, the owners plan on serving smoothies, homemade pastries, and sandwiches, according to DNAinfo. While Wrigleyville prepares for the Cubs to embark on their title defense, Bridgeport has shifted to offseason mode. The owners of Red Line Cafe and Stix n Brix hopes they can perfect their restaurants by the time Sox crowds return for Opening Day next spring.
