The Belly Shack space in Logan Square near the CTA Western Blue Line stop has a new tenant. Hero Coffee Bar plans to open its third location in the space Bill Kim and company vacated last month. Hero owner Brian Tubolino said they’re aiming to open in mid-January, which means soon.

They’ll offer a commuter special of some sort. Hero features breakfast sandwiches, many served on bagels from an arm of Gonnella Baking Co. The menu will also include skillet burritos. Hero will also serve their customary deli sandwiches for lunch. Pour over coffees are their specialty. Hero roasts it own beans at a Roscoe Village facility as Headstash Roasting Co.

But for rushed commuters who have no time for a pour over, Tubolino said they’ll have “fast coffee” ready at a moment’s notice. They’re keeping most of the old Belly Shack seating and adding tables inside. The space is getting only mild alteration, with the addition of some lighter woods to keep its aesthetics consistent with the Loop and Roscoe Village locations.

Check Hero’s social media pages for more info on the opening at 1912 N. Western Ave.
