WICKER PARK— After a three-year run, The Monarch has closed, as the owners are looking for new ventures after DNAinfo reported they were evicted from the space at 1745 W. North Ave. Although mostly known as an upscale sports bar, it had a notable opening chef: Roister's Andrew Brochu helmed The Monarch’s kitchen back in 2013 after he left Graham Elliot. Peter Coenen, who moved on to run the kitchen at The Gage and now Cherry Circle Room, also helmed the food here.
OAK PARK— The owners of Marion Street Market announced the closure of their Oak Park restaurant on Tuesday, the same day they opened a new restaurant—Fourteensixteen—in LaGrange. The Tribune has the details on the closure. The restaurant opened in 2008 as Marion Street Cheese Market, but rebranded to the new name earlier this year.
THE LOOP— As Rosebud Restaurants open a new location, they’ve shuttered an old one. The Tribune reported that Rosebud Theater District, 70 W. Madison St., is closed. The team behind One North Kitchen already has plans for the space, as previously reported.
RIVER WEST— DeLux Bar & Grill has abruptly shuttered at 669 N. Milwaukee Ave. Passersby, Yelp and Google all report the closure. There’s no evidence on their social media channels, which haven’t been updated since June. Phone calls go straight to a fax machine. GrubHub also shows they’re closed.
