Tour The Willow RM., Lincoln Park’s Chill New Post-Theatre Hangout, Opening Today

And see what you’ll eat inside the 135-year-old building

The Willow RM opens to the public today in Lincoln Park.

The Willow RM., the new restaurant and bar inside the 135-year-old Lincoln Park building at Willow and Halsted, is opening tonight. The restaurant is from the same team behind Zella and formerly The Tin Lizzie, the Michigan sports-focused bar. They’ve gutted the insides of The Black Duck Tavern & Grill and made everything brighter.

Ownership went for a classic feel, using materials like distressed leather and reclaimed wood. They’ve hired Marissa Janz, a former line cook over at Nico Osteria, as their chef. The opening menu includes a house-made tagliolini that Janz rolls out herself. This is Janz’s first chef’s job, and she’s excited for patrons to try the charcuterie which could make an excellent snack before a show at the nearby Steppenwolf of Royal George theatres.

There’s room for 100 in the main dining room with 10 bar seats. The basement has room for another 40 and features a wine cellar behind a lowered bar. Ownership sees the room as a place to wait for a table or just relax. Fifty more seats will be available on the sidewalk when the patio opens next spring.

Check out the menu and photos below.

Willow RM., 1800 N. Halsted St., open 5 p.m. to close daily; weekend brunch launches in two weeks from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Look for OpenTable reservations next week.
