Dining near Northwestern University is about to get more exciting as Alpana Singh has announced a Sept. 29 opening date for her latest restaurant, this time located at 1701 Maple Ave. in suburban Evanston. Terra & Vine is the former "Check, Please!" host’s third restaurant, following The Boarding House in River North and Seven Lions on Michigan Avenue.
Singh is once again using her knowledge as a master sommelier, as Terra & Vine promises to be wine focused with selections to complement executive chef Andrew Graves’ Mediterranean menu. Graves spent seven years working for Grant Achatz and company at the Aviary, Next and Alinea, and his cooking at Terra & Vine will utilize a huge wood-fired grill inside a large multi-room space with a expansive patio. They’ve also brought in Joe Doren, formerly of Haute Sausage and Franks ‘N’ Dawgs, as chef de cuisine. Doren was a member of Zagat’s "Chicago’s 30 Under 30" back in 2012.
