Wrigleyville will get some much-needed high-profile restaurants and bars in 2018. A new restaurant from One Off Hospitality (The Publican, Avec, The Violet Hour), a spot similar to Matthias Merges’ acclaimed cocktail bar and eatery Billy Sunday, and more are slated for the forthcoming Hotel Zachary across the street from Wrigley Field, according to a news release and multiple reports. The Fifty/50 Group’s West Town Bakery, a concept from 4 Star Restaurant Group, two more high-profile restaurants-to-be-determined, and the return of McDonald’s to Wrigleyville are also slated for the hotel.

The opening is slated for early 2018. Expect more details on those restaurants and the additional two projects within weeks. The hotel is named after Zachary Taylor Davis, the architect who designed both Wrigley Field and Comiskey Park.

The hotel, which has been in the works for a few years and is part of the Cubs ownership’s plans for a plaza to redevelop the area around the ballpark, should add dining and drinking diversity to an area that has rarely seen new hospitality projects that aren’t sports bars in recent years. Partners say the plan is to appeal to more than just baseball fans. Stay tuned for more info.
