Giordano’s Resurrects Chicago Deep-Dish Hot Dog Pizza Monstrosity

Are they trying to make this a thing?

Giordano’s is reviving Frankenstein’s monster. The deep-dish chain claims the demand for their limited-edition Chicago-style hot dog/deep-dish pizza was so popular at Wrigley Field that they’re bringing the pies back starting on Wednesday. Cubs fans won’t find them at the stadium, however, as instead they can buy them through the end of the month at Giordano’s in Lakeview, 1040 W. Belmont Ave. Giordano’s food truck and their kiosk at Navy Pier will also sell them every Wednesday throughout the month.

The pizzas are available only in the personal pan size. After unveiling the pizza in July in honor of National Hot Dog Month, Giordano’s said they sold out for all six days they sold pizzas at Wrigley Field.

Giordano’s tops the pizza with cut-up Vienna Beef franks and the smattering of Chicago-style toppings normally reserved for a bun. While Giordano’s provided a few media images of the pizza, diners didn’t care to take too many photos of the pizza on Instagram. There have been 21 posts on Instagram using the #ChicagoHotDogPizza hashtag. Perhaps that speaks more about how much Cubs fans care about stadium food rather than how photogenic the pizzas are, but there sure are a lot of photos of Hot Doug’s encased meats in Cubs’ wrappers.
