—An Emporium Arcade Bar has shuttered for the first time. Emporium Lake County, the north suburban expansion of the uber-popular Wicker Park and Logan Square brand, closed abruptly with a sign on the door saying it's "undergoing renovations," the Tribune's Lincolnshire Review reports, and owner Danny Marks confirms to Eater that the shutter is permanent. It lasted just seven months.
—Is sushi on a spinning conveyor belt your jam? If so, you may be in luck: It appears that Uptown is getting what could be the first rotary sushi bar in the city in Wabi Sabi, according to Uptown Update. Whether it's an expansion of Wabi Sabi in Albany Park, the opening timeframe and any other details are unknown, as no one at the restaurant has responded to inquiries yet.
—The Old Town restaurant scene is continuing to change, as O'Briens Restaurant, which has been in business for more than 35 years at 1528 N. Wells, announced it's temporarily closing on August 31 to make way for a new hotel complex. The restaurant plans to reopen in 18 months as part of the complex.

—Addison & Clark, the Wrigleyville development that displaced multiple businesses including Goose Island and Salt & Pepper Diner, will include a dine-in movie theater with food consulted on by Lettuce Entertain You, the Tribune reports. "The Lettuce Consulting Group has had a lengthy relationship with Cinemex helping them to develop outstanding menus for their dine-in theaters," a LEYE spokeswoman writes.

Gold Coast steak and drinks hotspot Maple & Ash has revamped its first-floor bar and sidewalk space and added a new menu supposedly based on Magic 8 Ball responses named Eight Bar & Patio. Fancy new items include a bacon-wrapped Vienna Beef hot dog with caramelized onion, foie gras, black truffle, and cognac-mustard sauce; the "Eight Ball Sub" meatballs with giardiniera, arugula, green goddess dressing, and spaghetti side; and cocktails such as the "Outlook Looks Good" with Madeira, Carpano Antica, orange bitters, smoked ice cube, and whiskey "mist."
