After nearly a decade of craft beer, sandwiches and live music along Division Street, Jerry’s Sandwiches is closing in Wicker Park. Their last day will be Sept. 24 at 1938 W. Division St., according to a news release. Ownership described the shutter as a move, as they debuted a Lincoln Square location in February but couldn’t sync the opening with the end of their Wicker Park lease.
Jerry’s opened in 2007 in Wicker Park, a sequel to the original—and now shuttered—restaurant that debuted in 2002 in the West Loop. The restaurant’s revival on Division Street further marked the transformation of the drag, as neighborhood favorites like Leo’s Lunchroom were closing to make room for newer construction. Their departure next month leaves a prime restaurant available in Wicker Park that’s sure to garner interest from a plethora of would-be restaurant operators.
The also announced the closure via Facebook:
Fans of Jerry’s gigantic menu, local jam bands and customizable sandwiches shouldn’t fret. They can still go to the aforementioned Lincoln Square location, as well as their Andersonville spot.
