Hop aboard River North’s newest attraction, Ironside Bar and Galley, which opens at 4 p.m. Wednesday inside the former Cyrano’s Farm Kitchen space. Named for an 18th Century Naval warship, the management behind Flagship Tavern & Grill in Wrigleyville have done extensive work inside the main floor and basement.
While there are plenty of televisions inside with 23 flatscreens, this isn’t just a sports bar. They’ve brought in a touch of steampunk with dark-reclaimed wood and imported shipyard rope walls. Vintage photos and hints of patriotism are there throughout, including distressed U.S. flags.
There’s a private dining room that seats 10 on the first floor, and they’re calling the basement bar area "The Hull" as it seats 50. Ironside will also feature a 40 seats on the sidewalk.
About 75 percent of the Ironside’s beer is local or from the Midwest. They’ll pour brews from 16 taps with 33 cans and bottles also available. There’s also a cocktail aimed at men who don't mind pink: The "Brosé Rosé" (White Girl Rosé, Gancia Americano, simple syrup, fresh lemon juice, Tropical Red Bull, pineapple garnish). Fifteen wines are available by the glass.
Ironside will also offer a menu of bar food including lobster tater tots from the same chef over at Flagship. It's a seafood-heavy menu including salmon jerky, crab cake sliders and oysters.
