—Another rooftop hotspot is coming downtown later this summer—as well as multiple restaurants overseen by chef Richard Sandoval—and here's your first look at what they'll look like. The Conrad Chicago hotel will house Noyane (a Japanese rooftop bar and eatery), Baptiste & Bottle (a whiskey bar and eatery on the 20th floor), and Il Tavolino (a ground-floor Italian cafe and market). Get a visual preview via the renderings of the rooftop above and the 20th floor space below.
—Columbus' Curry, the fast-casual Indian restaurant opened in April 2015 by a former Bollywood actor at 1357 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Wicker Park, is no more. A sign appeared on the door just before the Fourth of July to announce the shutter, DNAinfo reports. There's no word yet what's coming to a prominent Wicker Park space.
—In other potentially-sad shutter news, two-year-old Uptown Mexican restaurant Riques Cocina Mexicana closed earlier this week at 5004 N. Sheridan Road, according to a Facebook post from ownership.
—Draft magazine has released its annual list of the 100 best beer bars in America, and five Chicago spots are on it. Congratulations to Fountainhead, Hopleaf, Local Option, Map Room, and Maria's Packaged Goods and Community Bar.
—Spanish Square, the new-ish tapas restaurant, wine bar and market at Belmont and Southport, has hired its first executive chef. Rafael Hurtado, a Mexican-raised and educated chef with experience at tapas restaurants in St. Louis, is now running the show and is introducing a new menu.
—Today is Roka Akor's fifth anniversary and the River North Japanese restaurant is giving away free oysters and bubbly from 5 until 6 p.m.
