—That highly-anticipated food wonderland in the Loop, Revival Food Hall, has two more high-profile additions. Budlong Hot Chicken, which recently opened its first location in Lakeview and has another coming to a planned brewpub near Loyola, is joining Revival at a rotating pop-up stall. Brown Bag Seafood Co., the sustainable fast-casual restaurant across from Maggie Daley Park, will also set up shop at the massive 16" on Center (Thalia Hall, Longman & Eagle) project that's slated to open in mid-August at 125 S. Clark St. Antique Taco and Furious Spoon are among the previously-announced restaurants.
—Surf, the new beach-themed bar and eatery in Logan Square from the Emporium Arcade Bar guys, has snagged a prominent chef. Jorge Miranda, former owner of Chilapan and chef of Las Palmas, will run the kitchen that's centered on "surfer food" such as pizza, sandwiches and salads. Expect it to soft open by the end of the week and a grand opening next Thursday, July 14.
—Lakeview eatery Meatball Hero and Pasta is no more. The restaurant announced its shutter on Facebook yesterday, writing that "Hopefully, this will not be the end of Meatball Hero, so don't count us out!" It opened in the former Sandwich Me In space at 3037 N. Clark just less than a year ago.
—Lula Cafe chef/owner Jason Hammel will curate this year's Taste Talks, the Brooklyn-based "culinary symposium" and festival that's coming to Chicago for the third year from September 30 through October 2. Tickets go on sale today and are available here.
—Intro, Lettuce Entertain You's rotating concept restaurant in Lincoln Park, is going Korean with its new menu that starts tomorrow. Chef Stephen Gillanders' dishes include fluke sashimi, foie gras bibimbop, charred hangar steak with fermented red chili butter, and more. The menu costs $62 with optional beverage pairings running an additional $20.
—Milwaukee hotspot Ardent's ramen concept Red Light Ramen is popping up at Momotaro's subterranean izakaya on July 12. Chef Justin Carlisle will serve one ramen for $12, while Momotaro will supply four a la carte dishes, beer and sake bombs.
