There's good news and (possibly) bad news about L'Patron Tacos. The acclaimed taqueria is opening a new location at 3749 W. Fullerton Ave. in Logan Square —about two miles west of their original location— which should soft open on Thursday, with a formal opening on Saturday. But, as the Tribune reported, they may be forced to eventually close the original spot on Diversey due to a landlord dispute.

The new location will have a larger dining room with a back patio and sidewalk seating in a BYO setting. They'll also have new menu items, as co-owner/chef Ernesto Gonzalez told the Trib he'll serve a burger ground from the same steak used in his popular tacos: "We will explode your taste buds and I guarantee it," Gonzalez wrote via Facebook.

Gonzalez cut his teeth working with Rick Bayless at Topolobampo and his steak and fish tacos have led to a jam-packed dining room. L'Patron opened four years ago, and a larger location makes sense, and to celebrate they're offering 99-cent tacos at the new location on Thursday.
