HotChocolate’s Mindy Segal Joins Revival Food Hall Lineup in The Loop

Only weeks before Revival Food Hall opens in mid-August, ownership’s revealed the final pieces to the puzzle in The Loop. They’re partnering with pastry queen Mindy Segal and will serve the acclaimed chef’s cookies, hot chocolate from Mindy’s HotChocolate and other sweets at a new cafe. Revival Café-Bar will also pour coffee from five different roasters mix 12 coffee cocktails created by the cafe’s bar manager, Michael Huebner, a bartender who’s worked at Celeste, Drumbar and The Aviary.

The owners of the chef-driven food court, 16" On Center (Dusek’s, MONEYGUN, etc.), have now revealed their full 15-vendor lineup inside the the first floor of The National office building at Clark and Adams. They'll offer sweet and savory items all day. That includes bagels, a poached peach cheesecake & oatmeal streusel slab, whole-wheat dream bars, plus brioche donuts with hot fudge. Hot chocolate will only be served during cold months, and but won't be available until the fall. So basically, that’s most of the year in Chicago.

They’ve named Eric Turner (Elaine’s Coffee Call, La Columbe, Lavazza) as coffee programming manager, and he’ll have plenty to manage. Revival’s not locked into a single roaster as they’ll offer Dark Matter Coffee, Metric Coffee Co., Abacus Coffee Roasters, La Colombe and a rare coffee from Yemen by Groundswell Coffee Roasters. Customers can also buy coffee beans for home use. The cafe could be a big draw when the food hall opens daily at 7 a.m.

Over in Logan Square, Estereo is proving that the all-day bar concept is a popular one. Likewise, visitors will be able to grab a cocktails mixed with coffee and alcohol at 11 a.m. Selections include a kegged cocktail, the Nitro Russian (vodka, coffee liqueur, coffee cream, chicory) and the Americano (Campari, sweet vermouth, sparkling water and blood orange Pu-erh tea). Segal is also getting in the beverage fun as she’s developing a chocolate for use with hot and iced mocha drinks. They’re working on food/beverage pairings.

So that should be all the announcements from Revival, which means all that’s left is to open the thing. While there’s no opening date that they’ve shared, they maintain it will happen in mid-August.
