Let the West Loop burger war commence, as today Umami Burger opens its second location in Chicago. Burger lovers have another option on Randolph Restaurant Row, as the West Coast import joins Au Cheval and Grange Hall Burger Bar on the strip. The neighborhood will get another burger buddy when Shake Shack opens next year.

West Loopers will get a few items exclusive to the location. One such selection is the Monte Cristo burger, with deep-fried buns topped with powdered sugar. The decor inside the 100-seat, 2,750-square-foot space is similar to other Umami Burger locations, where guests will find Japanese touches including lanterns and Soji screens.

Will Umami Burger become a destination for diners, or merely a consolation prize for those frustrated by long wait times at Au Cheval? Find out today, and view the photos below.

Umami Burger, 945 W. Randolph St., (312) 226-9919, open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday through Thursday; 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
