They're not ready to provide the details, but the folks behind beloved Logan Square bar The Whistler have plans for a bar with outdoor patio over in Avondale. The name on the license applications is Sleeping Village, with an address at 3734 W. Belmont Ave.
Whistler bartender Eric Henry and co-owners Robert Brenner and Billy Helmkamp are listed on liquor applications submitted to the city. The 6,000-square-foot building was once home to Fabian's Cabinets, and there's a yard on the westside of the parcel which sits on the northwest corner of Belmont and Ridgeway avenues.
A spokeswoman for The Whistler acknowledged the applications, but said there's no more information to share right now. Check back in the coming months as this project from the team behind of one of Chicago's more innovative cocktail programs takes shape.
