—In the latest example of how downtown Chicago can never have too many rooftop bars, a new hotel proposal for LaSalle and Hubbard hopes to add another to River North, as well as a ground-floor restaurant, DNAinfo reports. The proposal is by Michigan-based Porritt Group, whose owner says he's negotiating with NYC restaurant The Smith to fill the ground-floor space.
—GT Prime, the meaty follow-up to GT Fish & Oyster that promises is to be one of the hottest restaurant openings of the year, is getting closer. The Boka Group restaurant helmed by chef Giuseppe Tentori is now hiring for all positions in advance of its planned August opening at 707 N. Wells St.
—Uptown bakery/cafe favorite Baker & Nosh is moving to a larger location nearby this fall. The new space, a former Starbucks at Magnolia and Wilson, will have 50 seats, an outdoor patio, more grab-and-go items and a La Colombe draft latte station. A second location in Edgewater is also coming soon.
—Chef Bill Kim's lineup for his annual summer barbecue series at BellyQ is out, beginning this Sunday (June 26) with Giuseppe Tentori. $45 tickets are available here. The series continues with Craig Couper of Michael Jordan's Steak House on July 31 and Christine Cikowski and Joshua Kulp of Honey Butter Fried Chicken on Aug. 28.
