Shakou, the well-regarded, upscale suburban chain of sushi restaurants, is inching closer to the city. They plan on opening their fourth location later this month in Park Ridge, taking over the vacant Pioneer Press building at 130 S. Prospect.

The 6,900-square-foot location's been vacant since 2008. Shakou already has locations in Libertyville, Barrington and St. Charles, and over in Park Ridge, they plan a 250-seat restaurant with a June 27 opening date, according to a news release.

Management describes Shakou has having "a city vibe in the suburbs" with a full-line of sushi items and craft cocktails. Check back for more as the opening date approaches.
