34-Year Sushi Spot Shuttering, Original Pleasant House Closing Tomorrow, More Intel

Plus, extended Museum Campus popups starting and Oak + Char troubles revealed in court

Yelp

—Here's some sad news for sushi fans in Lincoln Park. Itto Sushi, a 34-year staple at 2616 N. Halsted, is closing at the end of the month. The husband and wife ownership team is "ready to settle down," DNAinfo reports.

—Tomorrow is the final day in business for the original Pleasant House Bakery in Bridgeport, the restaurant announced in its newsletter. Ownership also revealed that its new location, a full restaurant and brewpub in the former Nightwood space in Pilsen named Pleasant House Pub, is "tentatively" slated to open the week of July 5.

—The Chicago Horizon, a lakefront pavilion kiosk on Museum Campus, is getting new life as host to seasonal restaurant popups this summer. Jeff Mauro's Pork & Mindy's is already on board and will open to the public there on Monday, and expect more restaurants to be announced and hold rotating stints for varying amounts of time. The space is 4,000 square-feet, 40 seats, and can hold up to five vendors at once.

Oak + Char, the hearth-driven restaurant in the former Graham Elliot space in River North, has some money troubles and ownership changes. Crain's reports on a pair of dueling lawsuits between two sides of ownership that has resulted in operators Art and Tyler Mendoza vacating the restaurant, who reportedly wanted to close it at the end of May and reconcept. It remains open, and even if it closes in the future its majority owners intend to "maintain a restaurant there."

—In other lawsuit news, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan filed suit against Jimmy John's over noncompete agreements the chain makes its employees sign, according to multiple reports. Madigan, in a statement, termed the agreements "unfair to Illinois workers and bad for Illinois businesses." The sandwich chain has around 300 stores in Illinois.

Naansense, the popular fast-casual Indian restaurant with locations in the Loop and West Loop, is experimenting with brunch service. Head to the 113 S. Clinton St. location tomorrow between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. to try it, and the first 25 people there receive a free dosa. It's also BYOB.
