Back in February, the owners of Halsted's Bar + Grill closed the Boystown venue saying they'd re-concept the space after a 12-year run. Now three months later, LKH Management, via a news release, has shared details of their new spot. It's called Lark, and ownership described the remodeled space as a casual neighborhood spot. They've even brought over the bar from the shuttered Cullen's Bar & Grill. Expect a June opening.
LKH wants a restaurant that's welcoming to guests of all persuasions. There's a fireplace, as well as seating around the kitchen's Mugnani wood-fired oven. That's where staff—led by chefs Bernardo Ibarra and Kaz Medhat—will bake artisan pizzas. Ibarra already works for LKH over at Replay Beer & Bourbon, while Medhat served as executive chef at Magnolia Cafe, which closed late last year. The menu will include Sriracha barbecue baby back ribs, pizzas and smoked chicken pappardelle with roasted red peppers and goat cheese. LKH is keeping it in the family as Vlad Novikov, who also did the drinks at Replay, will handle beverages at Lark.
Expect 80s and 90s pop music. The interiors include 13 televisions, exposed brick and handcrafted wooden details. It's a 2,400-square-foot space with seating for 90, and about 100 on the outdoor patio.
Will Lark be the right fit for the neighborhood? Check back later as more details arrive.
