The suburbs need delivery love, too

Grubhub
Ashok Selvam is the editor of Eater Chicago and a native Chicagoan armed with more than two decades of award-winning journalism. Now covering the world of restaurants and food, his nut graphs are super nutty.

Oh, yes —city life— where urban-dwellers are overwhelmed by hundreds of food choices, and where companies like Uber and Amazon are investing some serious money in the food delivery game. But what about the suburbs? Grubhub is now showering some attention to towns outside the city including Evanston, Northfield, Park Ridge and Oak Park, as the delivery company announced an expansion of its services. Grubhub is also expanding service in the city down in Hyde Park and surrounding neighborhoods.

Delivery is increasingly becoming a competitive sector, but restaurants still worry that these services gouge them for money while consumers are hit with surcharges and delivery fees. Grubhub's fees range from $1 for $3, according to a news release.

Is this a game changer for suburban residents? Feel free to share in the comments.

Here's the more details on the coverage areas. Schaumburg and Naperville service will be added in the next week, and other towns including Skokie, Glenview, Northbrook, Des Plaines, Wilmette, Winnetka, Niles and Lincolnwood or covered.
