Gage Owner Unveiling New Downtown Restaurant on Tuesday

The Beacon Tavern is almost here

Beacon Tavern
Ashok Selvam is the editor of Eater Chicago and a native Chicagoan armed with more than two decades of award-winning journalism. Now covering the world of restaurants and food, his nut graphs are super nutty.

Dinner service debuts next week at Beacon Tavern, as Billy Lawless (Gage, Acanto) will open his new restaurant at The Plaza, that space nestled between The Trump Tower and Michigan Avenue. Executive chef Bob Broskey (L20, Ria, Intro Chicago), who Lawless worked with at Henri (now Acanto), will put out a menu showcasing seafood with a contemporary touch. Reservations are available now via OpenTable.

The space, 405 N. Wabash Ave., is a former McDonald's. But don't expect to Filet-O-Fish here, as Broskey and his staff will serve oysters, blue prawns, and more. They're aiming to start brunch and lunch service in two weeks, after Memorial Day.

Check back next for more on Beacon, the next restaurant in Lawless' expanding group. He's also got the Southern Italian restaurant, Coda Di Volpe, on the horizon in Lakeview.
