Today, you can escape the calamity of DePaul near that noisy intersection of Fullerton, Halsted and Lincoln, and venture toward the North Woods at Millie's Supper Club. The Wisconsin-inspired restaurant from the owners of German bar Prost! opens on Tuesday, hoping to bring a little bit of hospitality down from America's Dairyland.
The wood floors and wood-paneled walls are a nostalgic attempt to transport guests to the Wisconsin supper clubs owner Brian Reynolds visited as a child. It was his grandmother, Millie, who would take him. Reynolds wants a jovial atmosphere where friends and family can gather, complete with taxidermy on the wall and bright red vinyl seats. But given this is Lincoln Park, there's no room for a parking lot. That's why Millie's offers valet. Reynolds is also promising live music so diners have something to listen to while scarfing down their prime rib with their Miller High Life chasers.
For food, expect plenty of classic supper club fare: meatloaf, broasted chicken, beer cheese soup, fried cheese curds and even a Friday fish fry. The cocktail menu includes six types of Old Fashioneds, naturally. Check out the photos above and read the menu below.
