Sepia brass finally revealed the location of their new restaurant, and it's pretty close by. In fact, it's around the corner, inside the former Werner Printing & Engraving Co. at 565 W. Randolph St. There's still no name for the 150-seat restaurant, with a news release saying they'll reveal that sometime this summer and open in late 2016.
Chef Andrew Zimmerman's menu will feature global street food but "pursue the delicious over the strictly authentic." Look for small and large plates, as well as family-sized items meant to share. The beverage program, which Arthur Hon will oversee, is a bit zany with the flavors of kegged and bottled cocktails: he'll feature a salted-caramel Old Fashioned on tap. Look for craft beer and ciders to also infiltrate the drink list, along with a small wine list.
They'll have an open kitchen inside, with a bar, lounge and a small, private dining room. Partner Emmanuel Nony said, in the release, that they searched for many locations but eventually agreed that the one nearest to Sepia fit best.
The release explained the casual vibe in this interesting way: "The kitchen aims to take guests on an easygoing ride like jumping on the back of a bicycle in Thailand, walking a beach in Mexico, or hopping the fence in dad's backyard."
Check back later when the people behind Michelin-starred Sepia reveal more info.
