They're still waiting for city approvals to serve their juices, but Left Coast Food+Juice, the healthy fast-food concept that One Off Hospitality Group's Paul Kahan consulted on, opened on Wednesday. The owners hope to scale the concept, but for now they're working on gaining the favor of Lakeview customers. DNAinfo first noticed the opening.
Check out the menu, here. Diners who enjoy trendy avocado toast will enjoy two versions differentiated by California beach towns. The Laguna features toasted whole grain bread, avocado, orange slices, sunflower seeds, ricotta salata, sunflower sprouts, orange vinaigrette and zaatar spice. The Hermosa follows with toasted semolina bread, avocado, mojo rojo, red onion and fresh basil.

That's only for breakfast, as Left Coast also serves lunch and dinner. There's plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. The owners' creed is to eliminate the notion that healthy eating is "dull and flavorless." The menu also offers salads, wraps and grains. And parents, yes, there's a children's menu.
The cold-pressed juices and smoothies are a centerpiece, competing in space that includes Real Good Juice Co., Protein Bar and Owen+Alchemy. Partner Michael Madden told DNAinfo about how important it is to keep prices modest, as other salad and juice spots often have customers digging deep into their wallets. There's also seating for about 40, including a large booth and counter space.
Left Coast Food+Juice, 2878 N. Lincoln Ave., (773) 880-5338, open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
