Reservations for Billy Lawless' new restaurant off the Magnificent Mile, The Beacon Tavern, go online on Saturday via its website and OpenTable and the new restaurant should open in mid-May. Nestled in a former McDonald's space between the Trump Tower and the Wrigley Building at River Plaza, the seafood-driven Beacon Tavern, from the owner of The Gage, Acanto and The Dawson, was originally slated to open this month. The space is designed by the Chicago office of Perkins+Will.
A news release also trumpeted the arrival of executive pastry chef Kevin McCormick (North Pond), who met executive chef Bob Broskey while the two worked at Intro. McCormick's offerings will include a cheesecake utilizing his mother's recipe, and a chocolate banoffee (banana/toffee) pie.
Management also shared more details about its beverage program. Jon McDaniel, who handles drinks over at The Gage and Acanto, joins Clint Rogers (The Dawson, Dogma Group) to create Beacon Tavern's drinks list which includes affordable wines, eight draft beers and craft cocktails that mix local and international flavors. They're also boasting the best Guinness pour in the city, for fans of the Irish super stout. More to come.
