As Chicagoans begin enjoying spring, many are looking for more excuses to ditch the office and enjoy the weather. Or perhaps business pros need a new place to entertain clients. With that in mind, here's three new lunches to try in Chicago. There's also a new weekend brunch.
While there's still no weekend afternoon or morning dim sum, hot Chinese spot Imperial Lamian has begun weekday lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in River North. View the menu here. The "lunch sets" feature an entree plus two spring rolls or shu mai, as wells as miso soup or salad. Make a reservation here.
White Oak Tavern & Inn will start lunch service on Tuesday, offering lunch from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday in Lincoln Park. Their menu includes a variety of salads, sandwiches and entrees. Highlights include the White Oak Cobb salad, Avocado toast and a smoked fish plate. They're also introducing a new menu to serve customers between lunch and dinner hours, from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Selections include the White Oak Burger and smoked whitefish dip.
Peruvian food lovers will have to wait until May 2 when Tanta starts serving lunch in River North. From 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, diners can choose from items including the pan con chicharrón (crispy pork, sweet potato, mint criolla on a French roll). Eventually they'll offer a prix-fixe option, targeting business professionals. Reservations are available here.
Over in the West Loop, Green Street Local —the sports bar that George Giannoulias opened earlier this year— launches weekend brunch service on Saturday. Available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the menu features fried chicken & doughnut, a breakfast pizza and a Bikram quinoa bowl that may cater to the Lululemon set. Check out the full menu below.
