Original story follows.
Chicago's restaurant and bar world together mourned the death of Prince on Thursday. Many bars are pledging to play his music, while chefs are contemplating his impact on their lives. On Wednesday night at a Chicago Ideas Week panel, "Top Chef" host Padma Lakshmi and Roots drummer Questlove coincidentally talked about Prince and the creative similarities shared between musicians and chefs, as Questlove promoted his new book.
Today, bars and clubs across the city are hosting tributes to Prince. Berlin, the popular Lakeview nightclub known for its Prince night, will deploy a heavy dose of Prince tonight. Slippery Slope has some advice to anyone going out.
The only song you are allowed to request anywhere tonight is Purple Rain.

Meanwhile, the team at Swirlz Cupcakes went back to the archives to find special Prince cupcakes made back in 2012 for a backstage tour group.
Over on social media, Chicago's chefs, restaurants and food media posted condolences. RIP, Prince.
