Maybe you can win friends in Chicago with salad. Sweetgreen, a D.C.-based chain focusing on lettuces and grain bowls, has zeroed in on a River North spot, according to Crain's. Coincidentally, the report also mentioned that Sweetgreen is scouting another location inside the Crain Communications Building (AKA "The Adventures In Babysitting" building) at Michigan and Randolph.

No opening date was shared. Crain's notes that Sweetgreen's investment team includes Danny Meyer (Shake Shack) and David Chang (Momofuku). They'd make the address at 621 N. State St. its Midwest flagship, according to Crain's. That address currently houses Civello Chicago salon, and their website reads that shop will close on April 3. Sweetgreen debuted in 2007 and has grown to 40 locations, counting outposts in D.C., California, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York and Pennsylvania.

Chicago's downtown tastes have leaned healthy lately. Brendan Sodikoff opened 3 Greens Market last month. There's also Just Salad and Be Leaf. Time to add another to the list.
