—The 2016 edition of the Chicago leg of Cochon 555the annual traveling porky cooking competition, will once again feature five of the city's top chefs. Sarah Grueneberg (Monteverde), Philip Foss (EL Ideas), Cory Morris (Rural Society), Sarah Rinkavage (Lula Cafe) and Alfredo Nogueira (Analogue) are on tap to prepare multiple dishes from one whole hog on April 24 at the Loews Chicago Hotel. Tickets are available here.

—Friday's Chicago Teachers Union strike will have a restaurant element, as fast-food workers via the Fight For $15 group are planning to join.

—The Tribune released its reader's choice dining awards, where the public voted to honor Blackbird, Gene & Georgetti, Lou Mitchell's, Glazed and Infused, and more.

Corridor Brewery & Provisions head brewer Brant Dubovick is releasing a new beer program at the Southport brewpub called "The Mothership," which they're describing as "a twist on a brett barrel aging program." New beers will be released "quarterly-ish," beginning with the "Funkadelic #1," a brett saison, on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
