It's official: Bom Bolla isn't coming back. The Pops For Champagne folks' highly-regarded chef-driven Spanish wine bar and eatery in Wicker Park sent word on social media last night that there's no chance of reopening following its closure just before Christmas. At that time, managing partner W. Craig Cooper left the door open just a crack that an angel investor or new ownership could swoop in and save it, but it wasn't to be.
In a long and heartfelt Facebook post, management writes that "Although I'm certain it's no surprise to anyone that our chances of reopening there on Milwaukee Avenue have been slim to none for some time now, I can say that as of this week, it is official; we will not be." UPDATE: The team behind River North's The Hampton Social are taking over Bom Bolla and planning a Hawaiian-themed restaurant named Mahalo, DNAinfo reports. They're hoping to open by Memorial Day.
