8 Staff Shuffles to Know at Chicago Restaurants and Bars

The Smyth + Loyalist announces a major hire and much more

SOUTH LOOP— Acadia also has a new pastry chef with a familiar name. After stints at Blackbird and Grace, Mari Katsumura has moved to Ryan McCaskey's two-Michelin-starred restaurant. Her father, chef Yoshi Katsumura, ran and owned Yoshi's Cafe. He died in August 2015.

WEST LOOP— The staff at Smyth + The Loyalistthe eagerly-anticipated companion fine dining and casual restaurants, is coming along. Sommelier Kelly Coughlin will be the general manager and beverage director at both concepts. She was on the opening team at Grace, and then moved to San Francisco before returning to Chicago last year.

LOGAN SQUARELula Cafe has a new beverage director. Jason Hammel named Diana Hawkins to the position at his landmark Logan restaurant. Hawkins worked as assistant general manager and sommelier at The Promontory, a position she held since 2014.

THE LOOP—Oft-traveled Michael Simon is the assistant beverage director for The Wit hotel, overseeing the programs at ROOF at the Wit, State & Lake, and the hotel itself. Simon, who previously worked at Celeste, Charcoal Bar, Qui in Austin, Carriage House, The Bedford, Acadia and The Black Sheep, says he's working on revamping the beverage offerings at all the hotel's properties.

MILLENNIUM PARK— Adamus has a new executive chef, Cory Seykoski. Seykoski will oversee all the culinary operations within the Silversmith Hotel. He previously worked at the Remington Hotel's division of luxury spots.

GOLD COAST—Cocktail maven Cristiana Delucca (The Drawing Room) is no longer the beverage director at swanky hotspot Maple & Ash. There's no word yet on her next move or her replacement.

PORTAGE PARK— While she's working on opening Quay Tao and Joey Beato's fine dining space, Joey & Elissa, Elissa Narrow was formally introduced as executive pastry chef at the team's steakhouse, Community Tavern. Narrow has worked for Paul Virant and Paul Kahan's restaurants.

WICKER PARK/RIVER NORTH— After less than a year, Revel Room's bar manager Jonathon Jones has left and headed to The Broken Shaker. There's no word on who will replace Jones at Heisler's Wicker Park bar. Anthony McNulty Mitchell has replace Jones at Revel Room.
