While bartender Benjamin Schiller's creative cocktails are making The Sixth the bar to be in Lincoln Square, what's happening with Fifty/50 Group's namesake sports bar on Division Street in Wicker Park? Well, Scott Weiner and Greg Mohr are making some changes at what was named the best sports bar in the country by multiple publications, which will involve full renovations, a new bar and a higher level of cocktails.
The bar, which was one of the first sports-focused concepts in a gentrifying neighborhood, is also adding a "cutting-edge ice program" from Schiller, according to restaurant group reps. Space changes will include a larger patio, new furniture and decor, and "envelope-pushing menu additions," reps add.
A cutting-edge ice program at a sports bar? The Fifty/50, which opened in 2008, is indeed getting some changes. Work on the three-level building will take place and be completed by late spring or early summer, according to the rep. The group recently applied for renovation permits with the city, one showing $100,000 in upcoming work.
