The long-rumored second location of The Angry Crab will soon be a reality. Ownership is looking to open a Wicker Park spot on Milwaukee Avenue in either April or May, co-owner David Nguyen confirmed. The location at 1308 N. Milwaukee Ave. will be larger than the original location and house 120 seats.
A runaway surprise hit since opening in February 2015, The Angry Crab has generated long lines of customers eager to try their spicy Asian-influenced Cajun seafood-in-a-bag. The restaurant's success has launched a legion of imitators. Nguyen also hinted at new menu items at the Wicker Park space, which neighbors BIG & Little's.
"It will give guests more choices and help cut down waiting times," Nguyen added.
Expect the layout and decor to remain similar to the original location, Nguyen said. Nguyen and his brothers only recently started their search for a space to house another location. He said they looked a two or three different neighborhoods, including South Loop, before reaching an agreement in Wicker Park. With that being said, there's a chance of further expansion, "possibly" with an another announcement later this year, Nguyen said.
