Buona Beef has finally announced their opening date of their first —and long-awaited— Chicago location. It's opening on March 22 at 10659 S. Western Ave. in Beverly.

The project was announced all the way back in December 2014. Buona has 16 Chicagoland locations as far west as St. Charles, to the south in Orland Park and up north in Hoffman Estates.

Buona, founded in 1981, draws many comparisons to Portillo's, as they both specialize in Italian beef and have huge presences in the suburbs. Portillo's has only one Chicago location and is working toward a second one in the South Loop, near Manny's Coffee Shop & Deli.
