The departure of that Toby Keith bar left a huge void inside the city of Rosemont's entertainment district, so Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises and Joe's on Weed Street pounced on the opportunity. Suburban residents sometimes get cranky about driving into the city, which is one reason why LEYE and Joe's have brought the barbecue from Bub City and Joe's concert-booking experience to the suburbs.
Joe's Live (renamed for the suburbs, don't want to confuse folks with Lincoln Park's "Weed Street") debuts tonight with a sold-out performance by Frankie Ballard, in a way carrying on the country continuity from Toby Keith's. Bub City — which will open next week, most likely Wednesday— is attached with a menu, barbecue smells and decor familiar to anyone whose visited the River North location. The 34,000 square-feet of space is quite large, and LEYE is hoping to rent out the locations for private events, saying they can accommodate as many 1,500 guests.
Joe's isn't carrying over the sports theme from Lincoln Park. Their focus is on country music and visitors will need tickets for admission. Check out the photos above, and see if this city import can make a splash in the suburbs.
Bub City, opening next week (targeting Wednesday, unofficially), 5441 Park Place, inside Rosemont's MB Financial Park. Open for dinner daily at 4 p.m. until late. See concert schedule for Joe's Live.
