It's been eight months since beloved Wicker Park dive bar Beachwood Inn closed, and now news is surfacing that the owners of Lottie's Pub are taking over the bar's longtime space at Beach and Wood Streets. Pioneer Tavern Group (Lottie's, Frontier, Pony Inn) is reportedly turning it into a concept called Mae Bell Tavern & Grocery but haven't yet confirmed the plans, (see below) as detailed by DNAinfo.

The Beachwood lasted 65 years on the corner of Beach and Wood, providing Wicker Park a dive bar while the rest of the area on Milwaukee Avenue transformed. DNAinfo's report is based on a state business license record.

Stay tuned for updates if Pioneer Tavern Group releases any information.

UPDATE: Pioneer Tavern Group sent out a release that confirmed the project and said Frontier's executive chef Brian Jupiter and beverage director Sean Nielsen will be involved, as will owner Mark Domitrovich. There's no opening date, yet.
