When the team behind the uber-hot GreenRiver acquired the entire 18th floor of a Northwestern medical building, you had to know they had more up their sleeve than one, albeit impressive, cocktail bar. Later this month, they will open a second, smaller bar by the name of Annex.
The 32-seat establishment will have its own food and beverage menus, organized by raw ingredients and flavors. Head bartender Julia Momose will oversee the cocktail side of things, with a dedicated spirits list and increased emphasis on the already extensive ice program. Executive chef Aaron Lirette will offer a new selection of bar snacks, including chilled seafood and housemade charcuterie.
GreenRiver opened back in September as a collaboration between the Best Bar in the World's Jack McGarry and Sean Muldoon (The Dead Rabbit) and Danny Meyer's Union Square Events, with the former helping develop the concept and cocktails at Annex.
