Note: Budlong owner Jared Leonard clarified that Tuesday and Wednesday's services aren't open to the public. Full story follows.

Even though The Budlong won’t officially open in Lincoln Park until Thursday, Jared Leonard’s Nashville hot chicken restaurant is currently in soft open mode tonight and Wednesday where they’re serving friends and family who want to check out the space and food. Perhaps the opening will help deflate lines at the Revival Food Hall location in The Loop where office workers eagerly chow down on Leonard's spicy chicken, biscuits and other fare.

The Budlong enjoyed success in its Lakeview location, and some were perplexed why that location shuttered (it was due to a business squabble). That shutter wasn’t due to the quality of food, as they even ran out of biscuits on the first day they were open on Broadway. Down in Lincoln Park, Leonard has added menu items like chicken tenders and seasonal pies. The pie recipes come from the same pastry chef who developed the Budlong’s biscuits. They’ll also eventually add brunch.

The restaurant will open as a BYO and they’ll add cocktails in a week or two, Leonard said. Check out the full menu below.

The Budlong, 1008 W. Armitage Ave., (773) 270-9005, officially opening to the public on Thursday. Regular hours not posted yet.
