A rep says the folks behind DOX Quality Greek are zeroing on opening at the end of this week or early next week over in Wicker Park at the neighborhood’s prominent North/Damen/Milwaukee intersection. It’s not just a spinoff of the GRK Greek Kitchen brand, but a reinvention featuring cocktails, meat from Slagel Family Farms and snacks like grilled octopus.
DOX will focus on street food, which makes it stand out from fellow Greek restaurant and Wicker Park stalwart Taxim. They’ve enlisted executive chef Christos Fasseas, who has worked at Michelin-starred restaurants The Fat Duck in Bray, England and Varoulko in Athens. The menu of skewered meats, dips and rotisserie chicken is meant to be shared. Fasseas has also worked with a local baker on a pita recipe to serve as a vessel for his meats. DOX will also be open late inside the former City Soles space.
Two Greek beers—Fix Hellas and Volkan Blonde—will be available, as will three cocktails. DOX isn’t immune to trends as one of those drinks, El Griego, features mezcal. Wine is available by the glass or half carafe.
Check out the full menu and drink list below. DOX Quality Greek opens soon at 1566 N. Damen Ave.
