Revival Food Hall, the celebrated weekday lunchtime spot downtown, is testing out Saturday hours starting this week. Revival’s restaurant operators will unveil new breakfast and brunch offerings, and it’s much-needed in The Loop, as many restaurants cater to the office crowd and are closed on the weekends. Revival is testing Saturday hours during the holiday season when tourists are checking out Christmas displays and shopping for gifts.

There will be Bloody Mary carts, brunch cocktails and beer with brunch service that will from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. Revival’s bar will also be open, staying open until 5 m. on  Saturday. Brunch food dishes include a new biscuit sandwich from The Budlong. Jared Leonard called it the "Love Biscuit," featuring a Nashville hot fried chicken breast with melted gouda. If the item becomes popular, Leonard said they’d consider offering it on weekday mornings.

Revival is encouraging collaboration among restaurants, and Smoque is doing that with The Fat Shallot. They’re serving a new hash with barbecue brisket, roasted potatoes and caramelized onions topped with two fried eggs. Leonard talked about a fried chicken taco The Budlong tested out with Antique Taco. Sorry, they’re not offering that to the public—yet. Other new items include a pumpkin-butter latte from Revival’s cafe-bar, new brunch cocktails and beers. Mindy Segal’s hot chocolate, which is available during the week, is also also on the menu.

Saturday hours will kick off this week and go through Dec. 17. The Loop is usually a dead zone during weekends, but the restaurants want to make this work. Restaurant owners are willing to open on the weekends if there are hungry customers in the area.

Revival isn’t the only place to expand hours. Here’s two more spots worth checking out.

  • Veggie-friendly Bad Hunter has kicked off lunch service in the West Loop. Heisler Hospitality's newest is now serving their all-day menu every weekday starting at 11 a.m.
  • Robert’s Pizza Co. in Streeterville is debuting weekend brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays with new cocktails. One pizza features smoked lox and another bacon and eggs. Check out those full menus below.
