With Thanksgiving only two days away, are the owners of True Food Kitchen trying to tell Chicago something? True Food, which has a menu developed in part by a holistic physician and claims its food is healthier than most restaurants, opened its first Chicago location this morning. The restaurant could be the prescription to counter typical holiday over-indulgence.
This is True Food’s first location in the Midwest, and they serve an all-day menu, a weekend brunch menu and a kid’s menu. Those selections, heavily dependent on produce, will change seasonally. The chain debuted in 2008 and has 16 locations across the U.S, with five more on their ways.
There’s a lot of chatter about wellness, hiking and yoga in their promo materials. It’s probably a good place to check out to detox after a Chicago-style hot dog bender. Check them out today in River North.
True Food Kitchen, 1 W. Erie St., (312) 204-6981, open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday to Thursday; 11 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday; 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday; 10 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Sunday.
