West Lakeview eaters have one less BYO and brunch option. Bistro Dre, the French-tinged eatery on Lincoln Avenue just south of Wellington, is no more.

Local diners, according to Yelp, have been making reservations as recently as this past weekend only to find the restaurant dark and empty upon arrival. Many of the windows are now covered with white paper. Ownership returned an email inquiry about Bistro Dre’s status with a confirmation that it is indeed closed permanently, but didn’t explain why or what day it closed down.

The restaurant opened at 2965 N. Lincoln Ave. in September 2012 as Flour & Water Urban Bistro, only to change its name to Bistro Dre within weeks after being served legal notice from a similarly-named restaurant in San Francisco. It endured some rough early buzz to gain a following for its French-inspired brunch and a decent option for a BYO dinner in the neighborhood.

There’s no word on what will come to the space next.
